Assisting those who have just given birth through the first weeks and months of the uniquely significant and life-changing experience of becoming a mother.

The role and work of the Doula* can be fundamental in facilitating new mothers (or those adding a newborn to their family) in understanding best what to expect of themselves and their child, how to best deal with all those practical and emotional aspects that make up their new experience as a mother.

The postpartum educational, practical and emotional support encompasses infant care, postpartum depression, breastfeeding support, general information, advocacy and referral, partner support, sibling care, and household organization/work as the family adjusts to the new baby.

We offer not only the support broadly outlined above directly to the mother, we offer professional training of Doula’s as well, so that their highly beneficial work can be perpetuated in the most effective and competent manner.

*Doula: a word from ancient Greek in common use now in English for over 5 decades, meaning literally “woman’s  aid”, in other words a trained companion who assists, in the specific use of the word today, women through and after childbirth.
